Dear all,
my small home networks consists of two WinXP professional nodes from
which one exports data via a network drive. If the second node tries to
access this network driver most files and folders can be used without
any limitation. But some files can't be accessed at all. There is not
error message nor anything else. The size is displayed correctly but not
its icon (it just get the dos-box one). If the file in question is
copied to a different location it can be access. If copied back not.
Other files in the same folder can be accessed without limitations. I
tries to use both simple and non simple file sharing.
Could anyone please advice how to change the network driver to really
get full access? Many thanks in advance!

Kind regards
Jan

Ok, I just found that I do not get any error if I try to execute one of
the files in question. But I do get access denied if I try to copy the
file from the network driver to some local directory. If I copy the file
to a different location on the server I can execute and copy it from the
network driver. If I now remove the file from its original location and
move it back from temporary to original location, I can also execute it
from there.
Does anyone has a hint why permissions on network drivers are changed I
files are copied back and forth?
