Network access from XPe

Hi,

I have XPe SP2 booting on a VMWare virtual workstation from a raw partition
( host XP Pro ). 'My Network Location' does not show anything, nor do the
right clicking on files produce the usual properties menu. I want to be able
to see the host's filesystem from the guest XPe. ( there is a shared folder
on the host )

I have the following components in the config -

TCP/IP Networking with File sharing
Netshell
Network command shell
Network command shell interface context
IP Router monitor library ( firewall turned off )
Windows Management Instrumentation
User Account ( cmiUserGroup 4, cmiUserName - Guest )

What am I missing ?

thanks in advance,
sbs.

An update of my situation.
I added some more components ( as a result of more googling ) and they are -

- AMD PCNET Family PCI Ethernet Adapter
- Network Diagnostics
- Remote Access Monitor

and I was able to ping my host and from the guest XPe. IE connected to the
internet and I can surf now.

The problem of not being able to see anything under Windows Network and
workgroup remains.

How and Where can I configure ? Map Network Drive is as good as not being
there.
thanks,
sbs.

Hi sbs. In addition to these components, you will also want to include the
"Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File Sharing" components in order to
enable mapping network drives and accessing file shares (as well as creating
them). This should solve the problem. These components are also included
in the following macro components:

- TCP/IP Networking with Client for MS Networks
- TCP/IP Networking with File Sharing and Client for MS Networks

This should help. Let us know if you have any further questions. =)

Hi Matt,

I do have the components you mentioned, but they don't make the windows
explorer Map Network drive work.
I have finally included Net.exe Utility and mapped with net use on command
prompt. This mapping appears on windows explorer neatly once done and all is
well.

thanks,
sbs
