NETLOGONS and SYSVOL shares missing

Greetings AD guru's

I just installed a new DC2 in an existing domain under Win2k3 R2. DC1 is
working fine. Unfortunately the DC2 is missing the NETLOGON share and the
SYSVOL share. So the AD is not working properly. At the end of
installation dcpromo stated that AD was installed successfully but in
reality its not. The sysvol folder has been created (\windows\sysvol) but
not the share.

DCdiag reports a problem with the Netlogon share and Sysvol share, what I
already knew. Netdiag reports a replication problem which is "normal" here
because of the missing shares.

Event ID for AD shows ID 1153 as a yellow warning. No red icon.

So I uninstalled AD on DC2 using dcpromo and reinstalled it. No luck. Same
issue. Any idea ?

TIA

It is difficult to diagnose without any error codes, etc... Did you specify
the dns server on dc2 to be the same as the one on dc1?

Run diagnostics against your Active Directory domain.

If you don't have the tools installed, install them from your server install
disk.
d:\support\tools\setup.exe

Run dcdiag, netdiag and repadmin in verbose mode.
-> dcdiag /e /c /v /s:DC_Name /f:c:\dcdiag.log
-> netdiag.exe /v > c:\netdiag.log
-> repadmin.exe /showrepl dc* /verbose /all /intersite > c:\repl.txt

If you download a gui script I wrote it should be simple to set and run
(DCDiag and NetDiag). It also has the option to run individual tests
without having to learn all the switch options. The details will be output
in notepad text files that pop up automagically.

The script is located in the download section on my website at
http://www.pbbergs.com

Just select both dcdiag and netdiag make sure verbose is set. (Leave the
default settings for dcdiag as set when selected)

When complete search for fail, error and warning messages.

The shares aren't shared for the first time until the DC feels it is in
the proper state. The usual source of issues here is with the FRS
replication, i.e. the replication engine that copies sysvol. That isn't
copied in the DC build process, it is after the first reboot. So I would
check to see if you have FRS issues and check the actual SYSVOL folder.
