File Replication - SYSVOL/NETLOGON shares

Hello,

I have two domain controllers. DC1 has no SYSVOL or NETLOGON share so when
DC2 is offline no one can log in. I have noticed that the ntfrs.jdb file is
missing from DC2 but is present on DC1. So the File Replication Service will
not start on DC2. DC2 has all roles and both are global catalog servers. Is
adding a new domain controller the answer to getting at least 2 DC's on my
network? Is there anything else I can do?

Any help is greatly appreciated

This is one of those cases where perhaps a
DCPromo 'cycle' is the easiest way out.

Make sure that your roles are on the functioning
DC and that it is a GC -- then run DCPromo on this
DC to make it a regular server -- and then again to
make it a DC again.

If you only have 2 DCs, make them both GCs when
you are finished.
