NetLogon won't start

Hi,

I am having problems connecting one Windows XP machine to
our network (domain). The EventLog error states
that "Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for
your computer network. (the specified domain either does
not exist or could not be contacted).Group Policy
processing aborted."

I read somewhere on the internet that this could be caused
by the netlogon service not being started so I tried to
start the netlogon service manually, but I get the
error "Error 10106 - Requested service provider could not
be loaded or initialized"

If anyone knows what is causing this problem and/or how to
fix it - please respond.
