Net_sendpacket: No error and others

S

S.P.

Ok here's my specs:
Dell Dimension 8250
2.4 ghz
512 RAM
P4
128mb ATI RADEON 9500 PRO vid card
Win XP
DSL connection through SBC

I play a lot of online games (ie. RTCW, Enemy Territory,
and Call of Duty). For the past two months I have been
getting a major lock up of my system. After about 1-2
hours of play my game will "connection interrupt" and the
console shows an error message of NET_SENDPACKETS: No
error or WSAENOBUFS. I can close the game and go to the
desktop but my internet connection is unusable. And
sometimes my control alt delete function becomes unusable
after this. Turning off the modem, restarting the
connection, and refreshing IE's browser will not allow
any further internet activity. I have to push teh reset
button everytime and compeltely reboot the comp then
everythign works great.

I can surf the net without any problems. It is only the
online games.

FIXES:
I have updated punkbuster, updated patches for teh games
and updates, downloaded drivers for teh vid card,
uninstalled network connections like QOS?? or QUS?? I
have disabled almost everythign st startup/deleted temp
files, defragged, compressed etc. I used to run a mcafee
firewall and Linksys router but I don't anymore (wonder
if that is part of my prob) I have read Jimmy's webpage
on fixes, and am about to pull my hair out.

I have deleted my internet connection and started over
and it still does the same thing. SBC says it is not
their problem because I can get internet and they don't
support games. It has gotten so bad with the
interruptions i got the blue screen with the
error_IRQL_less_than etc. message....

Any help please??? Maybe I have missed somethign
here....and I looked at all 64 pagesof messages here and
I hope I didn't miss the fix.

Hey skippy,

Nice to see you playing real games ;)

I play the same ones. I have a couple of thoughts about
what can be causing the problem. No guarantees that they
will work, but here goes.

1. Make sure that you only have tcp/ip as your network
protocol
2. Go into your main dir for RTCW, ET or COD, look for the
profiles dir and look for you config file. Check through
that at make sure you have set maxpackets, snaps and rate
etc correctly. It might be that one of the settings is
causing probs with the data flow. I know that if you have
the rate set to slow that most servers will boot you for
your ping being to high
3. Check you network card. I assume that you get you
internet through to your pc via ethernet connection. It
might be work buying an el cheapo network card and
swapping them to see if that is the prob. I used to use a
hardware router/modem and was running into the same sort
of problem where the router would lose the ip addy for my
gaming machine. Also make sure you have updated you
network card drivers
4. Check to see if there are any firmware upgrades
available for you router modem. Don't forget that 3D
shooters are very traffic intensive, and an upgrade may
stablise the flow of traffic during a game
5. When in game pull down the console with ~
type /cg_lagometer 1 (excuse me if I got this wrong, I'm
working from memory and I'm at work ). This should bring
up a small box in game showing 2 lines scrolling across.
These lines are you incoming and outgoing signals. The
smoother and shorter the line, the better the ping. If you
are seeing lots of changes in these lines so that it looks
like a jagged mountain range, then that is indicating that
you have a bad connection to the game server. This may not
be you isp's fault, but rather problems casued by the hops
that your signal has to go through to get to the server.
6. the irq messge you are getting also makes me think that
you have an interupt conflict with your irq setting. Check
the system section in control pannel and see if you
network card is working on (ie no yellow exclamation mark
next to it) and that there are no interupt conficts.
7. If you network setting are set to auto detect, maybe
try assigning an ip to your machine so that the router has
a fixed address to work with

That's about all i can think of i'm afraid. I currently
play all 3 of those games that you have mentioned
competitively and have never encountered your sort of
problem. Good luck with it. These games are leet so I
would hate for you to miss out!!
