NET USE command

D

Dale

I have Windows XP Professional installed in a NT Domain
environment. One of my users uses a DOS base program that
does not look like it will be updated anytime soon, for
reasons unknown. When logged in as an Administrator, I
use the command "NET USE LPT1: \\computer\printer" and the
printer maps as an LPT1, but using the same command as a
none administrator or even a power user to the local PC, I
get prompt for the username and password. After enter the
creditials for the Administrator and even the non-
administrator user, I get an Access 5 error.

I know this has to do with the user needing to have some
elevated priviledges. I don't want to make the user an
Administrator at the PC level unless I absolutely have
too. Also this LPT1 mapping needs to be done when the
user logs in each time and I have put it in a BAT file.

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?
