net time gives access denied with IP but not with name

Any ideas why

net time \\mycomp

works, but

net time \\192.168.0.102

doesn't work (192.168.0.102 is the IP of the mycomp computer)?
I'm using Win XP Pro SP2 and I'm not using a domain.
 
I managed to solve it; what I did was that I had different logon accounts on
the requesting computer compared with the computer that the request was sent
to. However, then I still don't know why it worked with the computer name...
