I have a network with a mix of XP, XPPro and W2000.

Issuing NET SEND * message

from each machine on the network

causes a message to appear on every machine other than the XPpro machine.

The command works fine if issued from the XPpro machine and appears on every
other machine.

Have tried with the firewall off.

Does any have any ideas ?

Regards

Martin

Hi

Most likely the Messenger service is disabled.

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

2. In the list of services, double-click on Messenger

3. In the Startup type list, set it to Automatic, and click Apply
Then click on the Start button.
