.Net Framwork - Duplicate?

In Administrative Tools I noticed that I had 4 Shortcuts pointing to .Net
Framework.
One to MS .Net Framework Configuration, one to MS .Net Framework Wizards
and another set of two identical except indicating version 1.1.

The path to these were Windows\Microsoft.net\Framwork\V1.0.3705 and
the other path was Windows\Microsoft.net\Framework\V1.1.4322
Assuming the version 1.0 was not needed I deleted it (and the two
shortcuts).

So I get an auto update to install .net framework ver 1.0 SP3, which would
not
install until I Restored what I had deleted.

Do I really need both?

You just need the latest version i.e. 1.1 and its SP1. Download from
here:

I installed version 2

then uninstalled 1.1 which took out 1.0 remnants.
Then did the dastardly deed and removed all traces 1.0 & 1.1.4...
with 2 regcleaners.

Apparently I do have 1.1 installed. That's why I removed the earlier
version.
Then why would MS alert me that I need Update SP3 for that earlier version?
If I now install Version 2, will that replace the two earlier issues?
