.NET Framework?

I installed .Net Framework so I could try an image editing application. It
added itself as an additional user, causing me to have to click on an icon
to log on, where before it went straight to opening XP.

It turns out I rarely use that image editor so I think It would be
advantageous to uninstall the .NET Framework so it can go back to having
only one user, as owner/admin and go straight into XP again. The extra step
is an inconvenience.

Just wanted to check first --do I simply uninstall using control panel
add/remove? Would there be any caveats re: uninstalling it? I cannot think
of any other applications I have that require it, so is it necessary any
further?

Thank you, Pflu

Many software developers are designing software and drivers utilizing
..NET Framework. You should leave it installed for the future.

Visit the Windows Update web site and download the available critical update
for .NET Framework. After installing it and rebooting, the Welcome Screen
will no longer appear if you do not have a password for your account.

The Welcome to Windows screen appears when you start Windows XP
after you install the .NET Framework 1.1

You can also use the following steps to enable automatic logon:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type: control userpasswords2 , and then click OK.
3. In the dialog box that appears, clear the "Users must enter a user name
and password to use this computer" check box, and then click OK.
