NET Framework 2.0 Installation problems.

No matter whether I attempt to uninstall and re-install or repair NET
Framework, I find that I end up with 11 errors with the Program Integrity
Scan of One Button Checkup associated with Norton System Works 2006. All
these errors relate to NET Framework 2.0. There are 11 missing Program Files
which essentially refer to 'cannot access a necessary file "mscvr80.dll"'
1. Is this something that I should be concerned about?
2. If so how to I rectify this.

If necessary I am happy to post the 11 errors in their entirety

I have 10 errors that seem to be similar to Frustrated Dave.
What do the missing files impact? Are they important to the operation of my
computer/software? It it OK to ignore these problems? Or, should I try to
repair them.
Finally, if it is advisable to repair the problem, how should I repair it?

Specific details are - Norton System Doctor found "10 missing files":

1. “C: \Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.050727\AppLaunch.exe†can not
access a necessary file, “msvcr 80.dllâ€
2. “C: \Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.050727\aspnet_regiis.exe†can not
access a necessary file, “msvcr 80.dllâ€
3. “C: \Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.050727\aspnet_state†can not
access a necessary file, “msvcr 80.dllâ€
4. “C: \Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.050727\aspnet_wp.exe†can not
access a necessary file, “msvcr 80.dllâ€
5. “C: \Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.050727\csc.exe†can not access a
necessary file, “msvcr 80.dllâ€
6. “C: \Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.050727\cutres.exe†can not access
a necessary file, “msvcr 80.dllâ€
7. “C: \Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.050727\ilasm.exe†can not access
a necessary file, “msvcr 80.dllâ€
8. “C: \Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.050727\mscorsvw.exe†can not
access a necessary file, “msvcr 80.dllâ€
9. “C: \Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.050727\ngen.exe†can not access a
necessary file, “msvcr 80.dllâ€
10. “C: \Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.050727\vbc.exe†can not access a
necessary file, “msvcr 80.dllâ€
Thanks for your assistance (I understand Dave's frustration).

I had a similar problem a while ago after an update to V2. The update
wouldn't complete and had an error about registry access not allowed for
current user. The current user had administrator rights and this problem
should not have happened. I checked the registry location and it showed full
access to the current user so the update should not have aborted. After a
few tries I uninstalled v2 under the assumption a new install may fix it.

It didn't work. Now a new install stops with an unspecified error. Then
tried to downloaded v3 in windows update but that aborted with the same
error. Then to make it even worse the only other possibility was to
uninstall v1.2. The uninstall aborted with the same error so now they only
running version I have is 1.2.

I have not been able to find any references to this problem in various MS
webs and spent a lot of time perusing around Microsoft MSDN and TechNet but
no solutions.

No, unless the system is otherwise experiencing operational problems related
to a malfunctioning .Net installation.
2. If so how to I rectify this.

Basically tell NSW to ignore it. See Opus post.
If necessary I am happy to post the 11 errors in their entirety

IMO, you are better off without Norton System Works or any of the Norton
Home products.
