NET CF 2.0 on Windows Mobile 2003?

Now that VS2005 and "big" fw 2.0 is launching, can anyone tell me what I need
for Net CF 2.0? Will it run well on a Windows Mobile 2003 (esp. a Qtek 8100,
don't have it yet) phone or just the more expensive CE 5.0 ones?

NetCF verson 2.0 will run on PPC 2003, PPC 2003SE, as well as WM 5.0 and CE
5.0.

It will run on Pocket PC 2003 (inc Second Edition) but not Smartphone 2003.
And all Windows Mobile 5.0 devices and beyond

Are you sure it won't run on smartphone 2003 (does it have a different ce
core from Windows Mobile 2003)?

I remember I wasn't supposed to be able to run CF 1.0 on a Jornada 728
(Handheld PC 2000) but it worked as it was ce 3.0 like other supported
devices. That I already had so I had nothing to lose trying...

Yes the main reason being that on Smartphone .NETCF is applied as a ROM
update and this isn't going to happen for existing devices - so Smartphone
2003 remains .NETCF v1.0 only.

But if v1.0 can be installed through a ROM (EEPROM?) update why not v2.0? Or
get the system to use it from RAM?
