I'm glad that 4.3.0.0 works for you. My many years of PC usage has taught me NOT to
upgrade unless either I'm having a problem with the version I'm using, or a feature that I
MUST have is available only in the upgrade. Newer isn't always better, and often
upgrading can make a system that's running fine, have problems. That's my rule of thumb
for ALL updates, be they program, OS, drivers, utilities, etc.. PC users have different
systems and different needs. There will always be the users who will update just because
it's THE NEWEST Update.
There are people who will swear that SP2 is the greatest thing since microwave popcorn. A
year before Windows XP was released, I went to an interesting web site, where a tech
person claimed that there were too many serious security holes in XP for it to be released
to the masses, who wouldn't know how to cope with the problems it would bring. MS scoffed
at those "doom sayers," released it anyway, and the fallout has been snowballing ever
since. I was reading a USA Today Article which blamed Windows XP for tech support jobs
being farmed out to third world countries. It seems that Dell and other PC makers make a
small profit margin on their systems.
The security hole problems in Windows XP caused an astronomical increase in tech support
resources, so tech support had to be farmed out to third world countries where people earn
$20-$30 a month. And, the usual three year support is down to one year, with options to
pay more to extend coverage. Regardless of the MS position on SP2, and taking to account
that we only read of the problems here, THERE ARE STILL TOO MANY PROBLEMS WITH SP2. If
someone doesn't want to risk trashing their system with SP2, an alternative is just
installing a decent firewall, practicing Safe Computing on the internet, and keeping virus
definitions up to date. There are many free pop-up blockers, and free BHO removal
utilities too. Doing the above is an alternative to risking any problems with SP2. Even
though my services are in constant demand for fixing problems caused by SP2, I think it's
Microsoft's biggest mistake since Windows ME, and will garner more anti-Microsoft
sentiment. BTW, security holes have already been found in SP2. Why bother? Because
you've been told that you need it? Critical upgrade my a--.

On a lower version, the pc had an error, and XP - sp2 informed me that a

I'm using InCD 4.2.9.1 and am having no problems
Assuming that you are a registered user of Nero 6.*, and that you didn't
upgrade to
Windows XP after InCD was already installed:
Try clicking your Start button, click Run
Type: msconfig
Click the OK button
When the System Configuration Utility opens click the Startup tab, and see
if InCD is
listed among the Startup Items. If it isn't, go to Control Panel,/Add or
Remove Programs,
uninstall InCD, then reboot, and reinstall it. Even if it is listed, try
uninstalling,
rebooting, then reinstalling InCD.
