Neither of my 2 CD Roms/CDRW do not work!!!!

Please help. In the course of messing with a serial port unit (GPS) and
getting it to work, I somehow lost contact with my CD drives. Device
manager shows the error " Windows cannot start this hardware device
because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or
damaged. (Code 19)" I uninstalled them and let PLUG and PLAY find the
again but still I get the exclamation points in Device MGR, and they
don't show up at all in MY Computer. Help

Hi Dave - See here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];270008 It may not
sound like it applies but take the steps outlined there to delete the Upper
and Lower Filters. Or, . . .

.. . . Or, you can also use this reg file to handle these deletes (it takes
care of
deleting some other things which can cause problems as well):
http://www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip This is
pretty much the "standard" fix for this type of issue. Backup first so that
you can recover if there are problems (there aren't usually, BTW).

It's recommended by Compaq/HP that you run FilterFixer also when this occurs
to recreate the correct entries, here:

Thank you so much Jim. I installed CDGone and rebooted. I've wasted so
much time. Thank you so much! Dave
