Negative Number Formats

Can anyone help? I have Excel 2003 and despite setting
all regional options correctly and specifying number
formats as (99), (£99) etc I still can't get Excel to
display them in parentheses. I seem to remember from
Excel XP that you have to install/uninstall
certain "foreign" language options but can't remember
what. Please e-mail if you have the key!

I'd double check that windows setting:

Windows Start button|settings|control panel|Regional Settings
Currency Tab|Negative Number Format

(that was the path I used in Win98.)
