How do I get the parenthesis option in NUMBERS format, Excel 2007.

O

Oldster

I want to have negative numbers entered within parentheses in an Excel work
sheet. "Number" format should provide this option, but in my copy, I only
have "red' or a "-" sign. Is there a defect in my copy of Excel 2007, and if
so, how can I repair it? The Help file implies that I should have this
option, either in "Number" or "Accounting" or "Currency" formats. None seem
to provide it. Is there an error I can correct?
Thanks

weard that it is not there in the "numbers" section. you can go to custom
and choose one or make one like this

#,##0_);(#,##0)

You could change the format of the cell, but if you want the ()'s to show up for
negative numbers in the format|cells|number tab, you'll have to change a windows
setting.

Windows start button|control panel
regional and language options
regional options tab
click the customize button
currency tab
change the negative currency format to show ()'s.
