Needed items greyed out

I have FP2003 and on the toolbar under File the options for "Recent files"
and "Recent sites" is greyed out. This makes it time consuming to bring up
the web I was working on each time. Why would this be the case and can I fix
it??

That will happen if you have windows and or a "different" Office application set to "Not" keep track of
recently used files.

There's a registry setting to change the behavior, which I can't remember at the moment,
Or it should be a setting in one of the other "Office" applications.

I have tried all the suggestions and don't seem to be able to solve it yet.

Ok, I found the registry entry to fix the problem. Go to Run, open regedit
and go to:
My Computer\HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies\Explorer
in the right pane change "NoRecentDocsHistory" to 0. It is listed 01 00 00
00. Change it to 00 00 00 00. I rebooted and it works now.
