Under the authoring tab, do you have everything enabled?

No I didn't. How could it have gotten shut off? Could choosing all options
in "optimize html" cause it? BTW Is it a good idea to check all the options
in the optimize html section?

If you enabled all items under Optimize HTML, you will remove all FP webbot tags during publishing,
thereby your site is no longer a FP enabled site and anything that requires the runtime extensions
will fail.

So when would that utility be useful? Are there any boxes that should be
chosen?

It is useful when you want to only have plain HTML code and don't plan to ever need to open the
publish site in FP again.

I have found no personal reason to use it.

Hi-
I just "listened in" here by chance. In the Optimixe Html dialog window,
would checking the box that says "Frontpage generator and ProgID tags" do
what you're talking about, ie, mess up anything that requires FP server
extensions to run ? Thanks,...Frank

Those are the only 2 options that affect nothing
- all others can affect the run time web components

Then why did Microsoft put it in there? And is there a way to reverse what
I've done?

It was added because user requested a way to generate clean HTML coded pages from FP without any
webbot tags, etc.

As long as you still have you local copy and didn't publish over it from the live/remote site where
you had selected the Optimize HTML command during publishing, just re-publish the site with it
disabled.

I found that even though I checked every box and stripped everything away,
my online foms still worked and the navigation bars worked as well. Does
this mean that if I strip away all those tags and it still works that I can
use web space that doesn't have FP extentions installed? Which features use
the webbot tags?
