Need to test a boot method

I have a Toshiba Protégé tablet with a broken cd drive.
The Bios says it will also boot from floppy (don't have one), CD
(broken), Network (don't know how), and hard drive of course
(it is a new hard drive - clean). However, when I click F12 when
it starts, it shows a pc card image. I have a 98MB pc card holder
for memory that goes with this tablet.

So I am trying to figure how to make the 98MB card into a boot
drive. I know I have to create a boot sector plus have some boot
files on it.

I went to the website for mkbt20, read, downloaded it, but when I
implement, it seems to only want to create a boot floppy.

Any help on how to do this?? My thought is that if I can create a
boot card - and it works, I will invest in one large enough to hold
XP.

thanks

Bios boot sequence choices are?:
Boot from 'networked device'?
Boot from 'other'?

I have not seen this done successfully yet without the choice in the bios.

I have tried changing the boot sequence in BIOS to no avail.
That has no impact. The hdd is clean so obviously that is no
help. The CD doesn't work (bummer). I don't have a floppy.
I don't know how to do a networked boot. From my research,
it seems to require a specialized server. Even though it isn't listed
in the BIOS, when I F12 for boot options, it shows an icon that
looks like a PC Card. And I do have a PC Card that holds some
film memory.

I'm sorry, what is the question?
Boot from 'other'?
I don't get that option in BIOS.

This is a nice little laptop if I can only boot and load an OS. I hate to
toss it. I searched eBay for a replacement cd drive but don't see one.
The cd drive is external and connects via a fancy cable that goes into
a PC Card. I have two of the connectors (PC Card to connector assemblies)
but it seems to be the cd player that is not good. I have an ac adapter for
it and the light flashes but the door won't open without the paper clip
trick.
And it won't spin to start.

this would be the boot option for booting from anything networked. I was asking if you had
that option.

firewire? 1394 connection?

Yes, that is an option. As I indicated,... I do not know how to do that.
I remember checking on it once and it seemed rather overwhelming.

Nope, nope. Not that new. Very lightweight. Two USP's but
no option for that... unless the image of PC Card in F12 also applies
to Flash Drive... but that is not mentioned in BIOS.
