Need to Save Epanded W2K SP4 Files To CD

M

Mike

I've got to reinstall MS Office 2K Pro on three W2K Pro PCs that Office 2K
was removed from.
When I attempt to reinstall Office 2K Pro it prompts me for the SP4 CD.
Apparently SP4 replaced
some W2K Pro protected files.

Know I can order SP4 CD but don't want to wait a week for it to arrive.

Than ks,

Mike

You can choose the network download. Use the /x switch to extract the files
without installing.

From a command prompt;
W2KSP4_EN.EXE /x
should have worked. Should prompt you for a location to extract the files
to.

:
| D/L SP4 (Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 Network Install for IT Professionals)
| from
|
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...f1-749f-49f4-8010-297bd6ca33a0&displaylang=en
| Latest sp I could find with the supplied link was sp3.
| When I try to unpack sp4 w/ the "x" it responds with "the above filename
is
| invalid"
|
| Am I missing something?

Tried the same thing from a PC at work on Friday. Same error message.
Read the KB article on sp4 install and command lione switches. Using W2K Pro
PC logged on as admin.

OK so I just downloaded it again. When I execute
G:\SP4\W2KSP4_EN.EXE /x
It goes through verifying files then prompts for the location to store the
extracted files. Sounds like your download may be corrupt.

Reread your instructions. They work. I expanded to executable to a
directory.
All is well. Originally, I tried to expand the file from the Run line.

Glad to hear it's sorted.

Expanding IT Install SP4 executable cd:

Saved expanded files to a directory named "sp4" then burned it to a CD.
I need a cd because when I attempt to reinstall Office 2K Premium it
prompts me to insert the "sp4 cd" Apparently, some sp4 files need to be
replaced.
The prompt doesn't permit me too browse to the cd. Ut replies with
something like
"not correct cd" then terminates the Office 2K install.
How should I name the burned PC or what do I have to get the install to
work?
