Need to replace a driver file on setup files

I have a NIC that uses a newer version of a driver file that comes on the XP
Pro CD. If I want to have my setup run automatically and join my domain I
need to have this driver file "replaced" during the text based setup.
Integrating the drivers during setup is not working correctly because XP
setup is detecting the NIC incorrectly with the standard driver.

I have taken my XP Pro CD and replaced the "driverfile.sy_" and replaced it
with the new one and reburned the CD however when the file is copied to the
hard drive I get an error telling me that the file image is not what it
should be and that it is either corrupt or incorrect. I can continue past
the error and all is fine however that pause creates the need for user
intervention which I don't want.

How can I get setup to either not check my "drivefile.sy_" file or change
whatever it is verifying it against so that it thinks that it is OK?

Stick with what XP has and just after installation have an unattend process
kick off the upfrade of the driver.

That won't work because unless the new driver is in place before the NIC
tries to contact the network during setup it will not be able to join the
DOMAIN. The driver has to be replaced before the hardware detection part of
setup.

During the hardware detection XP detects the NIC as another model so it
never looks at the OEM drivers for a differnet version. It finds the
standard driver and goes with it. All the newer driver does is support this
new model so if I could just replace the driver in the XP setup files I
would be all set.
