Need To Recover Data - HELP !!

I had some problems with my Win XP Home Compaq notebook
and had to send it in for repairs. Before I did that, I
backed up all my data (direct copy) onto a hard disk. Have
installed this hard disk as a secondary device on my
desktop machine. However am not able to locate my folders.

The files in the shared documents folders are available.
But those in the my documents folder under the specific
user account are not visible. (My desktop is running Win
98).

I have the password for the user account.

Now how do I use this info to read my data from the my
documents folder.

Please help me as I am in a terrible bind and need this
data urgently.

Do you have an option for system restore in accessories,
system tools. If so you can restore all information that
way. Sorry I can't think of anything else though..
