Need to reapply patches after System File Checker?

After I have used System File Checker ("sfc /scannow") then I guess
it will restore all the system files to the original versions when XP
was first installed.

Will I have to re-apply all the patches and updates?

I guess the patches will have changed quite a few system files and
maybe the updated system files will get overwritten by SFC.

SFC in Windows will look in Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 for updated files.
The XP CD is only required for core files that have not been changed by subsequent
Service Pack updates.

If you wish to make a new updated Windows XP CD with SP2 "slipstreamed"
(i.e. integrated), this can be easily accomplished:
