Bob,

Can't help with the manual deletion of WMP 11, but I can give you a link to
download and store WMP 10

http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=wmp

I have installed this within the last month or so on my wife's XP Home
computer and was able to pick the various 'fixes' from the Windows update
site.

Have a look at the site as there also seems to a WMP 10 repair tool
available there on the right-hand side.

You cannot install WMP10 on your system for it will come up with an
error message that you have a later version of WMP (vWMP11). The
only way now is to probably reinstall WMP11 completely and then to go
Add/Remove programs to uninstall it. Then you may be able to reinstall
WMP10.

Rob,

If you have not already done so, have a look at this information on the
Microsoft site regarding WMP 11 manual removal especially where it's not
shown in the Add/Remove programs

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/wi...aspx#RollingbacktoapreviousversionofthePlayer

Or if a 'wrap' causes problems try http://tinyurl.com/ovndr - it takes you
to the same place

Hope this helps

Brian , tried everything , when I do the remove WMP11 , it tells the
rollback is complete no restart
no error message
The problem I have is when I view a mpg file using WMP11 it is all fuzzy ,
no clear picture ,
tried other mpg files ,same results
Bob

Spaceman , when I go into add/remove and click remove for WMP11 it tries to
fall back to WMP10
I do not have WMP10 on my PC , and that is where is problem is , even tho I
click to remove, nothing happens
I have all ready tried deleting the directory , but not the registry links
Do you think that will help
Bob

Spaceman , you will not believe this but , I know longer have the
Windows Media Format 11 Runtime , it is gone , disappeared
The WMP11 file size is now 3.75 mb , but when I try to download WMP 10 I
still get the message
the current version of windows media (10) technologies is incompatible
w/ the version of windows (xp)"*
I have run CCleaner , also , I have tested 7 Registry Cleaner programs
and every one is different.I mean between 5118 error to as low as 297

Hi
I got to be quick but

Perhaps you need to install windows media format runtime 11. Also after
thinking this, are you on Service pack 1 by any chance (service pack 2
maybe required to run WMP11), put for the less technically minded do
you have automatic updates switched on. Oh year and your computer must
well slow with that many reg errors, what do mean by "I have run
CCleaner", have you fixed the errors it suggested or just run the
cleaner. Which other programs have you run, you may want to know some
make up entries to get you to buy there product. Not trying to sound
like an advert for CCleaner but it registry checker only cleans the
ones that need cleaning (I would personally trust this one). Some of
the others, may be slight to tough with your reg to get more errors to
sound better.

Hope you fix it
