Need to Interrupt Setup

J

Jeff Daly

I need to STOP WindowsXP setup from runnning. I started to run it and now
it seems impossible to get it to quit. If I reboot, it goes to "Setup will
restart" and starts all over again. I've tried running "fixboot" and
"fixmbr" from the Recovery Console, but Setup is always there waiting to
restart after I reboot. Is there ANY way to stop setup from restarting???

The first part of the Windows XP install runs from the CD. After the first
reboot, the install continues from the hard drive.

If your computer bios is set to boot first from a CD this will happen. Go
into your computer bios and change the boot order after the first part of
the install. This should be set to first boot from the hard drive. Now the
setup will continue.

Let setup continue, choose repair an existing installation when asked
