Need to install Client Services for Netware

New Windows XP Home on a hp pavilion ze5400 need to install the "Client
Services for Netware" but it isn't an option......

Looks like you will need to upgrade to Pro.

Near the bottom is says:

NOTE: The protect-mode Microsoft Client for NetWare Networks is still
included with Windows XP Professional. Windows XP Home Edition does not
include this client.

Can you get round your problems with IPX??

That's correct, it's not an option. I don't think Microsoft
anticipated anyone running a Novell network in their home. WinXP Pro,
however, does support Novell Networking.

Guess they didn't anticipate someone taking their laptop from home into
work.... and wanting to connect to the network there!

No, I need to connect to Netware Servers at work.. It is a laptop!

Nor would I. If my employer wants me to work from home, _he_ can
provide me with a company laptop, with the proper OS installed.
Anyway, most security-conscious network admins would have a fit at the
mere thought of an outside computer connecting to their network.
