Need to Download XP SP1

Is there a link to download the XP service pack 1 (not 1a)
and then install it to another computer?

I have a dial-up connection at home but would like to
download (save to disk) at work where I have a dsl
connection.

I have looked but can't find how to do this. It appears
that I could do it with sp1a but I don't want that one.

Can someone advise me on this?

Just download SP1a. if you woul;d like to also download the unsecure and
now not updated version of SP1 (thats the only difference)

There is no difference in the security level of SP1 and SP1a as long as you
are continuing to take the critical and security updates from
Windowsupdate.microsoft.com.

The actual difference is the inclusion of the Microsoft Java VM in SP1 and
its absence from SP1a

Kind of refering to the future. Next year (Jan 2004) you guys will not
support JavaVM. nor will you offer secuirty patch's.

Why do you want SP1 and not SP1a? SP1 as far as I know is no longer
available from MS.

SP1 and SP1a are identical except that Java Virtual Machine has
been removed from SP1a, by court order. For that reason, the
original SP1, if it can be found, is the *better* version to get.

You are correct that SP1 is no longer available from Microsoft.

Get the Network version, on the right, save and burn to CD (it is around
130MB). Or order a CD, at the link down at the bottom of the page. $10
plus S&H IIRC -

The original posted wanted SP1 NOT SP1a which our download and CD is now.
