Can anyone help? I'm trying to install a driver for some new hardware (Road
Angel 2) and Windows XP auto installs what it thinks is the appropriate
driver. Problem is that it is not the correct driver and when I try to do the
update device it tells me that there is no better driver anywhere!! I need to
disable the autoinstall function.

when u go to install the driver...dont let windows search for it.....click on
"specify a location" and point it to where you know the driver is..when u
open the driver you want windows will install that 1..

I tried that one too but it said that it couldnt find a more recent or better
driver. I want to prevent it installing the driver in the first place if
possible.

find the name of the driver it is using and uninstall it from the windows
driver directory....then install the driver u want to use but change the
installation folder to something you can remember easy eg
c:\driver\desktop....now install the driver from "specify location" and point
it to the (desktop folder).....that should do it..

Uninstall the device first through "Device Manager". Then, when Windows
redetects the device, follow what fisherman posted.

Ooops clicked yes by mistake (Was this helpfull?)

Have given what you said a go and it still wont accept it. The driver it
auto-installs doesnt appear to have a name so difficult to locate it and
uninstall it.

Any more suggestions?

I've just tried that. Its saying that no driver is installed in the Device
Status box but it wont let me install a driver thro the update button. It
just comes back and says there isnt a better driver. What should I look for
in terms of the type of file to check that the driver actually exists?

What are you trying to install?
