need some quick help

Ok I thought the problem was at my end but apparently it wasn't...
here's what's going on:

FP2002 - When I publish I get the following error message: Server Error
on file"70 Ford Mustang Fastback Red htm.tmp" The actual page name is
70FordMustangFastbackRed.htm and it's the same as all the other pages in
my site. Is this some sort of server problem that I need to ask my host
about or is it something on my end?

Ok I think I found the problem but I have another question... when I
remove files from my local site and then publish, doesn't FrontPage
remove the files from the server site? Because fro some reason it
doesn't seem to be deleting anything from mine.

It should as long as you are publishing to a server that has the FP extensions and have select the
Change Page Only option and that the remote and local copies where in sync prior.

that all seems to be the case and yet it didn't remove any of the files.
These were all unlinked jpegs in an unused image folder... would this
make a difference?

Matt

And should I just go in live and remove the images again? The only
problem with this is that I'm on a dial up connection and it's almost
impossible to publish from the server to my local system.

That sound like your only option at this point.

just out of curiosity... do you know what the following file could be:

Thumbs.db

Is this where I used the auto-thumbnail feature of FrontPage?

T

Thomas A. Rowe

The thumbs.db is created any time you open a folder under Windows XP using Windows Explorer or My
Computer.

Delete the file, then do not open your folders holding your web content outside of FP.

Ahh... if only that were an option. Unfortunately I don't do the
everyday maintenance of this particular site. I set it up and do any
major repairs and/or updates that are needed but they have someone
locally that actually adds daily content. And I won't even go into how
much damage they do a month to the site...

Thanks though!!

You just need to inform them about the best ways to maintain their site.

Oh I wrote out a 5 page set of instructions with pictures that was
simplistic enough for a child to follow. And on top of that they've
been working with FrontPage for almost 2 years now, they just choose not
to learn anything as long as they have someone to clean up the mess.
