Need some info reg'g Temp files in XP Pro

Hi, all.
I recently bought a new computer with XP Pro SP2. I am very familiar with
Win98 and my last system WinME and I am trying to better understand the
Windows Explorer structure in XP.
Specifically, can someone tell me, or direct me to the TEMP file structure
in XP?
In WinME, the system Temp was in the C:\Windows folder and anything in there
could be cleaned out.
XP has Temp files everywhere, most of them with stuff that remains in them.
There is one in Windows, one in each Documents & Settings Users folder
structure etc.
Can the contents of any Temp be safely deleted? Or is there a main one as
in WinME?

Thanks for any info.

You can delete the contents of the Temp folders, but not the Temp folder.
If any file is in use, win will complain and you wont be able to delete it.
You could allways use Disk Cleanup, which will allow you to safely remove
junk.

DL thanks, but I did run Disk Cleanup and everything is still there.
I have files in Doc & Settings\user\local settings\temp (mostly .xlm) and
Doc & Settings\Administrator\local settings\temp (mostly .xlm), and
C:\Windows\temp (mostly empty folders that are labeled with number strings).

Can all the contents of these 3 folders be deleted?

Yes, provided you dont perm.delete they will finish up in recycle bin
anyway.
I believe .xlm are excel macro files, the strings possibly installs
