Hi,

i sent 5 files zipped in 1 archiv throught rapidshare.de. My friend unzipped
the
archiv and told me 2 of 5 files are unreadable in WMP ! She is so unskilled
that it takes
ages to explain her she could try again downloading the whole archiv and so
on,
and that she could try coolplayer...
i think to attach a md5 utility with a batch to check integrity, but it
would not
repair the file.
When i download the archiv here, every thing is ok :(
btw changing girl friend is not an option :)

Create some recovery volumes and send them to her too.

Hi, Mel.

I have never had success with any repair utilities I've ever tried with
trashed .zip files. I'm wondering if there are any incompatibilites
between different zip/unzip routines, which could cause such a problem.
In the beginning, the guy who built the format kept it proprietary and
everything worked. Mostly.

My thought is to have her send you back the file she's got and see if
you can unzip it yourself.

If you can't, I'd assume that it's corrupted.
In that event, I'd try zipping the original source material again and
before sending it to her, unzip it yourself and see if it reconstitutes OK.

How's that sound?

Sorry:
I should have addressed my first post to Laurent.

No Richard, i sent 1 archive, with 5 files inside,
and she could unzip it. But then, 2 file where "unreadable"
in Windows Media player.
Sometimes there is a so called "CRC error", which can be fixed
with Izarc for example. But you are advised while unzipping
the archive that it is corrupted. I wonder because
CRC is an inbuild "cycle redundance" routine in ZIP...
So if the archive is corrupted there should be an error
message while unzipping.

But maybe the ICEECC is no install : i copied the exe on
another disk and it runs :)

Have her send one of those extracted and unreadable files
back to you. If it runs on your machine the file is not
corrupt and she probably has a codec issue.
