Need opinions on ATI Cards...

Tom Rogers

I currently have an ATI AIW 128 Pro 32 MB AGP card. I purchased it
originally for analog video capture, but have since purchased and use my
Sony D8 CamCorder for analog to DV capturing. So now I would like to upgrade
the card.

I want to stick with ATI. I am not a power-gamer, but would like a card that
does really well with games like the latest JedKnight II game, and Nascar
2002, and other 3D games. I need the card to also be really good for video
editing. (I do more video editing than gaming)

My price range is about $100.00

Any suggestions?

Thanx,

-Tom

Best choices would be:

Radeon 8500/9100 at about $60 or better yet a dx9 compatible Radeon 9500 or
9600 for about $130.

My ATI Radeon 9800 pro 256 meg card is a screamer indeed. You won't be
sorry.

I just bought 9500 pro for $145. You may not be able to get these anymore so
I would say 9700. Too expensive for me right now but should give you a few
years satisfaction, if at all possible get the pro ver. Do not ever buy the
newest hardware or you will be sorry monetary wise later! Let alone the
unknown problems with the newest stuff.
