I have apparently removed the Network controller from my XP Pro installation on an IBM ThinkPad23 while attempting to correct a network problem. Now when windows xp Pro boots up, it finds the network card and wants to install it. I have no knowledge of what it's looking for. Everything was installed on the Laptop when I got it.

I've put in the XP installation disk and ask windows to check for the driver but I've no idea where it might be on the cd or maybe there isn't one on it? Anyway, it says it can't find it on the cd.

Could someone tell me what I might need to do to get the network controller to be recognized when I boot up windows?

I can do a new installation but would rather be able to just copy the correct driver or a compatible into the correct windows folder. I do have two other Windows XP computers. If someone could tell me what driver and the location, could I just copy it onto a cd and let the laptop windows copy it from the CD?

Sorry to be so much trouble but I really don't want to have to do a new install if I can help it.

I think you have more disks than one.
On the last emergency (restore) CD disk there should be 'Drivers' folder.
Look for your card's driver in there.
