NEED JAVA, Early XPpro

JAVA not included in "original" Pre SP1 CDROM of XPpro.

NEED JAVA!!! in IE. yes have loaded all critical
updates to XPP OS.

Would it not seem to reason that if you installed XP SP1, JAVA would be
taken care of ?

OR,

you could just go to http://java.sun.com and download the latest Sun JAVA
Runtime Environment (JRE)?

Windows XP may not have Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (MSJVM). Never
heard that Microsoft lost the court battle with Sun? A clean install of
Windows XP will not include a Java VM. An upgrade install over an
existing qualifying version of Windows that already has the Java VM
installed will upgrade it. According to
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813926, SP-1a will not include
support for MSJVM. I don't know if that means it won't upgrade it or if
it actually removes it. Did you do a clean install of Windows XP? Was
it an upgrade (and from what version of Windows)? Did you update to
SP-1 or SP-1a?

At this point, just visit http://java.sun.com/ to download and install
their Java VM.
