I don't think intelli 6.1 are available for everyone to download as I would
have liked them also to get my mouse side button working. I found them
mentioned on one site but they had a note they were not permitted to provide
a download link.

I have a Microsoft keyboard and mouse can live with the keyboard settings as
i basically want to type but the lack of options for my mouse side button
right click is very annoying. I was able to load the driver and Vista sees my
mouse as the one it is but does not show the side button option :(

It is frustrating at this stage basic keyboard/mouse drivers are still not
working.
Intellipoint 5.5 for the mouse loads ok if you select the folder with the
driver in but the keyboard refuses to install although my calculator + keys
seems to work with the Vista drivers given.

pippin, the IntelliType Pro/IntelliPoint 5.5 software will install
correctly IF you follow these steps:

1) Make sure UAC is disabled.
2) Make sure Windows Defender Service is disabled and turned OFF.
3) In fact, uninstall Windows Defender althogether. It interferes with
installation of many legacy software products.
4) DON'T use a limited account to run Vista.
5) Next, set XP compatibility mode for the ITP/IP 5.5 installer (don't use
"setup.exe", which will ALWAYS fail. Instead use "setupstb.exe" (in the
root folder of the Install Disk). Or, run the complete exe you downloaded
from Microsoft Download, and stop the installation BEFORE it asks you to
install the Keyboard driver. It should then leave setupstb.exe in the
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Intellipoint" and "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
IntelliType" folders, at which point you can execute the "setupstb.exe"
files once you set XP compatibility mode on them.
6) Don't forget to check the box next to "Run as Administrator".
7) After software is installed, and you try to run the Keyboard/mouse
software the first time, elect to turn off the incompability notice you get
each time, and click on "Run anyway". Next time, you shouldn't get the
incompability warning. If you do, just elect to turn it off and run
anyway.

You will still be able to reconfigure all your keyboard/mouse hardware
using the Microsoft-supplied ITP 5.5/IP 5.5 software. I've tried at least
two Microsoft keyboards (Wireless Desktop Elite for Bluetooth
keyboard/mouse, Wireless Desktop Elite (USB) keyboard/mouse), and both of
them worked just fine (except the Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard keeps losing
contact with Bluetooth on my Apple Intel iMac PC). All keys worked after I
configured them using the supplied software.
