Microsoft Optical Desktop Driver Error

I have installed Windows Vista and whenever I boot up, I recieve and USB
error message regarding a PCI device (unknown device but I believe it is the
wireless reciever for the Laser desktop equipment) and 3 'error' messages
regarding the Microsoft optical Desktop 2.20 driver not being able to be
found. I go through the paces of 'finding' the driver software and then
windows comes back and advises me it can't find a driver, then advises it
doesn't have a solution and doesn't install the device(s).
The error messages and driver install failure do not stop my Microsoft Laser
Desktop 6000 keyboard and mouse from working correctly, nor does anything
else seem to have failed.
Could someone provide advice as to how I can get rid of this driver install
errors?

BTW I have installed the latest Microsoft mouse and Keyboard drivers
(Intellipoint/IntelliType 6.1) with no change. I appear to have no
outstanding Vista updates.

Having the same dam problem with my Lenovo laptop. All the USB optical mice
that worked under XP are no longer regconized by VISTA. Put in a problem
report with the manufacture.
