Need IE 6 for SP2

IE was attacked; goes to only one Russian site. I cannot install IE 6 SP1 as
it says later version is installed. (tried uninstall; still thinks it's
there);

There is NO download for IE 6 SP2.

Would reinstalling SP2 harm anything?

Just out of curiosity, why are you trying to uninstall IE to fix a browser
hijack?

Did you try running a spyware/malware utility such as AdAware (free
download). Are you using an antivirus program such as AVG (free download)
and did you run a scan?

Uninstalling IE, which is an integral part of Windows is not the recommended
method for removing a browser hijacker.

I run McAfee anti-virus--did a full scan; run Spysweeper--nothing; ran
Adaware--nothing

From the link I posted, it looks like you have to change the IsInstalled
value in the registry to reinstall IE 6. It shouldn't harm anything to
reinstall SP2 if you need to.

You could try running Hijack This and save the logfile. There is a website
where you can post the logfile and it will be reviewed and you can get
instructions on how to remove items that shouldn't be there. Just "google"
Hijack This.
