i need a file that was downloadable (hotfix) from microsoft a few months ago but now they took the link off and want one to pay for this.

It is windows 2000 server tape.sys in \system32\drivers

The version in the hotfix is 5.0.2195.5988 dated 8/20/2002

Microsoft says it is in SP4, but there is a different version that does not fix the problem.

If someone could email me this file or direct me to where i might find it i would appreciate it.

----------------------

1. Hotfixes are free if you contact Microsoft Support.

2. The version of tape.sys is 5.0.2195.6655, so it would include all of the
fixes in 5.0.2195.5988 and more.
If the phrase in point 2 is incorrect in this case, then this is called
"regression", and should be brought to the attention of Microsoft Support.
NOTE: If there is a regression, and it is known, then there should be a
hotfix for it already.

3. It is, of course, important that your symptoms are *specifically*
outlined in Q289261.
