Need Help

Hi,

I have a P4 2.66, 512mb ram, 40gb maxtor hd with Windows
XP Professional SP1 installed. The computer is not even 2
months old and at least 4 or 5 times throughout the day
(totally random) a black box will appear on the screen
with yellow text in it that says "Off Mode in 5 Seconds"
and then the computer shuts down. I am able to start it
back up again and it could run for 90 min or more before
it happens again.

Any Ideas?

I don't know what this is, but it could be a good idea to run your virus
scanner. If you haven't got one - naughty! - you can have Symantec run one
for you off their site. www.symantec.com

Hi,

This pc is not connected to the Internet as are all pc's
on the domain.

Someone could have brought in a virus via removable media. We get 1000 posts
a day here, and I have not heard mention of your problem in the last 5 weeks
or so. Could a malicious employee have done this?

if your on a network and other systems have internet well that's the beauty
of the latest virus it goes after the network. RPC sure sounds like it
