Need Help With Startup!

whenever i try to startup it slows down whenever it comes
up to detecting secondary dirve, it takes soo long and at
te same time my cd-rom drive wont read anything, windows
wont even detect it :S, plz help urgent!
 
Check your setup for IDE's, you only need the PRIMERY IDE to be
active for your hard disk; your CD does'nt need
 
This is a clue that either your hd is getting ready to fail
or your cable to the hd needs cleaning/replacing! Pay
attention, loss of data is on the horizon...
