need help with setting up network

kapasi

i have two identical pc's
connectted the rj45 connetor to each of the computers
but on setting up network connection it stop with message
that either cable not connected or hardware missing.
well checked with new cable still same message hard that
is network build on Asus mother board sis 9000
can you suggest what i should do?
 
You need a special type of network cable, called "crossover". Visit the
nearest Radio Shack store.
