need help with my speakers

My speakers arent working...all my plugs are plugged in correctly and i dont know whats the matter. when i tried to play a cd in my windows media player it says it cant play cause there's no sound card...could someone help me
 
Sounds like you may have to reinstall the software for your sound card.
