When ever I attempt to play a dvd or cd in my computer I get the following
message
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunkist.NOTIFYICONDATA.hWnd:shwiconem.exe – Drive Not Ready

The drive is not ready for use; its door may be open. Please check drive A:
and make sure that a disk is inserted and that the drive door is closed
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The message won't go away. I close the message box and a few moments later
it will re-appear. It doesn't keep me from playing the dvd or cd, but I have
to move the message box down to the bottom of the monitor screen. The only
solution so far has been to return the computer back to factory condition
with the Master CD. Doing that restores whatever file is needed to keep that
annoying message from appearing for a few weeks or months, but eventually the
message begins appearing all over again. I can't keep returning my computer
to factory specs. Anyone know how to turn this useless message off? The
interesting thing is that it is triggered by my operating the cd drive, but
the cd drive is the "E" drive, not the "A" drive the message refers to. The
fact is, I have no "A" drive since the computer doesn't use floppies-- it
came with an 8-in-one card reader. Any help is deeply appreciated, especially
since I think putting my fist through the monitor will be painful after that
little box pops up too many more times.

Regards,
Nick

Before doing a reinstall, try either a System Restore, or

Open a CMD window and type

SFC /SCANNOW

A few other things to try:

- Since it mentions the A: drive, open the BIOS and see if there's a way
to remove references to floppy drives.

- Open the Device Manager and see if you can assign the CD-ROM to E:.

- Look in the C:\Program Files\eMachines Bay Reader\shwiconem.exe for a
config file, possibly an .ini file and change any A: reference to the E:
drive.

- Look in the C:\Program Files\Digital Media Reader\shwiconem.exe for a
config file, possibly an .ini file and change any A: reference to the E:
drive.

- Go to the OEM site and see if there's a BIOS, CD-ROM, or other update
available that might fix this.
