Need help with compnents for Intel D865PERLL motherboard.

I currently have a P3 800 with 512mb ram and am upgrading because my
current machine is too slow for video editing and I want to build a
system with the following components:

Intel 865PE Chipset Motherboard for Intel Socket 478 CPU, Model
"D865PERLL" -RETAIL

Intel Pentium 4/ 2.8E GHz 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache, Hyper Threading
Technology - Retail

Western Digital 200GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive, Model WD2000JD, OEM Drive

I want to put in 1gb of DDR400 memory, and at least two of my current
IDE harddrives (hopefully all three - see question #6.)

#1 What power supply should I get?

#2 Prices on 1 gig memory for this motherboard vary greatly,
if the price difference is related to type and performance, how
noticeable is it?

#3 What brand/type of 1gb memory would you recommend?

#4 Can I boot from the SATA drive?

#5 Are there any problems or better suggestions for the above
components?

#6 I currently have a CD burner connected to an Adaptec AHA-2930 scsi
card and a DVD-ROM connected to an IDE cable. Is it possible to get
a DVD burner that'll connect to the scsi card (freeing up a place for
another HD)? If so could you please recommend one? (I know nothing
about DVD burners other than that there seems to be many types of
burning.)

Many thanks for any advice.

In answer to your questions by number, IHMO use a www search to locate
best prices for the item\s under consideration. Buy from a reputable
dealer willing and able to sort any problems arising from the deal, if
possible choose one that has a customer review section, and use this
facility intelligently.

1. In UK there are several e-retailers offering fantastic deals on
items like PSU's. These tend to be not so well made but reading
purchasers reviews can show up the items to steer clear of. If you
expect to upgrade your computer in the next couple of years go for
400W plus even 500W plus. New motherboards are quite demanding and
many failures are due to under powering. Consider also, how noisy the
PSU is going to be, controls for fan speed can be a blessing but tend
to add to cost.

2. If you run ordinary everyday programs it is doubtful that if any
difference would be noticed across the range suitable for your other
equipment. The choice of 1Gb is ample, things start to get sluggish
when there is an inadequate amount of memory.

3. Have a coin? Toss it in the air and call! It will either fail
pretty well straight away, however much you pay for it, or more
probably go on for years. Remember that even brand new sticks can be
faulty even although the POST says they are OK. Run MemTest86 [do a
search for that on these forums] this will reveal defects which enable
you to move to the next hurdle [if there is one] as quickly as
possible.

4. Yes, depending on all the other equipment, although there are
steps to go through a little different to ATA. Assuming OS will be
installed from scratch, hit the F6 key when the installation starts,
regarding installing drivers. Watch out for the instruction it comes
up and disappears pretty quickly right at the start of the
installation. That done it is just a case of reading the on screen
instructions in the usual way.

5. Look on video specific forums for advice on 'best systems' there
is help of all types here and this reply will keep the thread 'in
view' a little longer.

6. A search for 'scsi dvd burner' reveals masses of results, just
one of these:

indicates that there are 20 available.

Good luck with your project, best regards,
