Need Help with command prompt

When I start my PC it goes to the loading screen and then shuts off just to
do it over again. When I tried the recovery discs it said could not access
file named ghosterr.txt So now I need help with bypassing the command screen
and go into safemode. I know there is an option of safemode but it just gives
me the command prompt. Any suggestions??

It sounds as if you have performed some partition
manipulation, resulting in the system drive letter
being messed up.

The cure depends on your facilities. It's easiest if
the machine is networked, less easy if you have some
other WinXP/2000 PC available and a bit harder
again if this is a stand-alone PC with no other machine
readily accessible.

So does that mean there is no possible way to bypass the command prompt and
go straight into some sort of safemode? To be honest, I only understood
portions of what you wrote.

You can try booting in Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly
during the early boot phase) although I don't think it will
make any difference.

I shall rephrase my questions:
1. Did you do any partition manipulation, e.g. with Ghost?
2. Is your machine connected to some other PC via a network?
3. If it is not, do have access to some other WinXP/2000 PC?

Your answers will determine the next step to be taken.
