Need help with 20'' LCD

M

Miho

Can anyone recommend me 20'' LCD display.
I am expecting best overall performances and I've been looking at the:

1. NEC MultiSync 20.1" 2080UX+
2. AG Neovo 20'' LCD X-20AV
3. Dell 20" UltraSharp 2001FP

Many thanks

My preference in a high end LCD screen would be for the NEC, Sony, and
Viewsonic. Not the others that you mentioned below. Also, take a serious
look at the Samsung. It is excellent for the price. If you want to go a bit
more down in the price, the BenQ are very good for the dollars spent. The
results from the BenQ are very impressive when compared to other ones at a
much higher price. But the BenQ is not at the same level of brand name as
the first ones mentioned.

In any case, these monitors will last about 5 years maximum with normal use.
With heavy use, they will last about 3 to 4 years. The newer generation of
monitors will be far improved, and their cost will most likely also be much
lower for the performance they will give.

I bought a Samsung 213T a few months ago and very happy with it. Comes
with Pivot SW so you can run it in vertical or horz modes.

Just curious about why LCD monitors have such short lifespans. Can you please
explain?

TIA

Not only LCD-displays have a short lifespan, now days almost all
consumerelectorinics have a lifespan of 3 to 4 years. To reduce
manufacteringcosts they use more cheap components.

You can't expect 6 years of usage with a 20" lcd-display of only 500
Euro. "Back in the old days" when iiyama and eizo 21" crt-displays would
cost 3000 dollar the quality was super, i still get displays for repear
with a age of 10 years, now thats quality

I've never heard that logic before. Very interesting.

Have a nice one...

Follow Joan Rivers' example --- get pre-embalmed!

Well, it is not actualy a logic, but more something i noticed. I repair
monitors and displays for a living and i have seen that i rarely get any
displays with the age of 5 to 7 years. I get more displays for repair
with an age of 2 to 4 years and 7 to 10.
