need help to publish to wwww

I have a www domain name and my isp has a fp server and an
ftp server and a homepages site. I have been able to
upload my test home page (index.htm)to the fp server but
now need to get it onto www and my IPS is not being
helpful. There is a homepage site but have not been able
to move my homepage to this.

the ISP is saying that i need to 'publish to the Fp site
(done) and then ftp the frameset to my normal web space -
the homepage site - but to ensure that the default holding
page (index.htm)is removed before uploading the frameset
for the www site to redirect to the fp space.

Well I am completely lost!

I have also been told that by using Cute ftp i can load
direct to the www through the homepages site but I have
not been able to do this either.

I am an abbsolute begginer in publishing and would be
grateful for some basic help and the best and easiest way
to get my web into www.

Thanks

I'd be completely lost too - literally, and looking for a different hosting
company :) I have never heard of a publishing process like you've described
below. Who is your host, perhaps someone here uses the same host and can
offer some help. The publishing process, however doesn't normally have to
be as complicated as what you describe below.

You should be able to connect to the FTP site with Cute ftp. Can you do
this, or do you get an error message?

Next step should be to navigate to the www folder on the remote site.

Select the files to upload on your computer, and tell Cute ftp to upload
them.

Thanks matthew for your help.

I have now got the site onto www but am having problems
when trying to publish changed pages. It is referring to
the original test attempt I made, and each time I am
having to republish the whole site.

Originally the test file/folder names had some spaces and
on publishing it always refers back to this, although I
have completely republished a number of times.

Do you know how to stop this happening?

Thanks

What is referring to it?

What do you mean by "spaces"?

You should be able to select the file you want to upload, and click a button
for "upload" and it will copy that file (and no other file) to the www
folder. Are you able to do this?
