need help resize partition

ok, some updates messed up my installation, now sitting in reduced
functionality mode, tech over at WGA tells me the only answer is to install
sp1, thing is I only got 3 gigs free on my vista partition.
Cant install sp1 !
Cant merge partitions, or rezise within windows.
I may have a solution, you guys could help me with it,....

is there a boot-up program I could get going on a diskette or cd that will
allow me to change partion size ?
say take 10 gigs from one partition and transfer it to my windows partition ?

Or I could plug this hd to another computer, boot off another disk and OS,
and use a partition manager to do the same thing... ????

Im really in a pickle, If I can't do this, I have to re-install my whole
setup, not good !

If you have a Vista DVD you can use the diskpart command in the command
prompt to make changes. Terrabyte and Acronis have trial products you can
use. Success will depend on your disk layout and how files are on the disk.
