need help removing xtreamlok

P

Patrick Glenn

I have recently been experiencing an error message, from xtreamlok. It
seems recently when I have been trying to open vatious files this error pops
up, wont let me open the file, and in fact closes whatever program I was
trying to view the file with. I didnt experience this until after I
installed Norton Anti Virus 2003, and even after I uninstalled NAV (for
other annoying reasons) I still experience this error. I cant confirm NAV
installed this application (it seems to run as a hidden service) but I only
experienced it after the NAV.

I have not been able to uninstall this application, I dont see it in my list
of services running, and the only internet help I found was to delete a
xl.exe file which I did to no avail. Any help in removing this application
(or at least determining why it is there and what it is doing.) would be
appreciated. I know it supposedly checks for potential "copyright/license
infringement" but it has appeard on some non-copyrighted AVI files.

Go here and ask them. Support Enquiries : (e-mail address removed)

In the meantime try this Start>Run type: regedit
HKey_Current_User\Software look for any folder saying

xtreamlok and delete it.

Same with Hkey_Local_Machine\Software

Also Start>Run type: msconfig StartupTab Look for entry with
xtreamlok and uncheck.

I have sent them an email, but I dont expect much support back from them

I also went thru the registry, and deleted all references to XTREAMLOK and
XLOK but the error still occurs,

any addition help and comments will be appreciated...

Take a look in the Registry under
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current\Run, RunOnce and all the Run
folders.
Do the same thing for
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current\Run etc. Delete any references to
Xtreamlok.
